OC Motor Pool and Maintenance Shop <br />PDC Project 23017 Conduit for Electrical Systems 26 05 33.13 - 2 <br />1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A.Conduit shall be delivered to the project site in bundles of full length pipes,each length marked <br />with the trademark of the manufacturer and the Underwriters'Laboratories,Inc.stamp. Each <br />conduit length shall be straight,true and free from scales,blisters,burrs and other imperfections. <br />1.Product Listing Organization Qualifications: Third party agencies shall be amongst those <br />accredited by the NCBCC (North Carolina Building Code Council)to label Electrical and <br />Mechanical Equipment. <br />1.06 DELIVERY,STORAGE,AND HANDLING <br />A.Receive,inspect,handle,and store conduit and fittings in accordance with manufacturer's <br />instructions. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.01 CONDUIT APPLICATIONS <br />A.Do not use conduit and associated fittings for applications other than as permitted by NFPA 70 and <br />product listing. <br />B.Unless otherwise indicated and where not otherwise restricted,use the conduit types indicated for <br />the specified applications. <br />C.Embedded Within Concrete: <br />1.Within Slab on Grade: Not permitted. <br />2.Within Slab Above Ground: Not permitted. <br />3.Within Poured Concrete Walls Above Ground: Use galvanized steel rigid metal conduit, <br />intermediate metal conduit (IMC),PVC-coated galvanized steel rigid metal conduit,rigid PVC <br />conduit,or reinforced thermosetting resin conduit (RTRC). <br />D.Outdoors: Apply raceways as indicated below unless otherwise noted <br />1.Above ground conduit: Rigid galvanized steel conduit with 90o rigid elbow below grade <br />transition to PVC. <br />2.Roof:Rigid galvanized steel conduit supported on rubber blocks and unistrut frame.Conduit <br />must be at least 3-1/2"above roof surface. <br />3.Feeders: PVC Type DB concrete encased <br />4.Branch circuits: Schedule 40 PVC direct buried <br />5.Telecommunications: Schedule 40 PVC concrete encased <br />6.Connections to vibrating equipment including transformers,generators,and other motor <br />driven equipment: Liquid tight flexible metal conduit. <br />7.Boxes and enclosures above ground Nema Type 4 <br />8.Where rigid polyvinyl (PVC)conduit is used for feeder conductors,transition to galvanized <br />steel rigid metal conduit a minimum of three feet horizontally prior to emerging from <br />underground. <br />9.Where rigid polyvinyl (PVC)conduitis used for branch circuits,use galvanized steel rigid <br />metal conduit elbows for bends. <br />E.Indoors: Finished spaces (not subject to physical damage) <br />1.Raceway shall be routed concealed in interior portions of furred spaces,ceilings,and <br />cavities,unless other than concrete or solid plaster where possible. <br />2.Raceways 2 inch or less shall be allowed to be EMT conduit. <br />3.All raceways concealed in exterior walls shall be rigid galvanized steel conduit. <br />4.All raceways larger than 2 inch shall be rigid galvanized conduit. <br />5.Where surface mounted conduit is required in finished spaces,contractor shall utilize surface <br />metal raceway wire mold. <br />6.Where there is a transition between RGS in a wall to EMT above ceiling,it shall be made at a <br />junction box above accessible ceiling. <br />7.Interior,Damp or Wet Locations: Use galvanized steel rigid metal conduit. <br />F.Stub Ups <br />Docusign Envelope ID: EF9C08D2-5B75-438B-8D6D-8473F81BD7C4
