OC Motor Pool and Maintenance Shop <br />PDC Project 23017 Power Conductors and Cables 26 05 19 - 3 <br />b.240/120 V,1 Phase,3 Wire System: <br />1)Phase A: Black. <br />2)Phase B: Red. <br />3)Neutral/Grounded: White. <br />c.Equipment Ground,All Systems: Green. <br />2.03 BUILDING WIRE <br />A.Approved Manufacturers as listed below or approved equal: <br />1.Copper Building Wire: <br />a.Triangle <br />b.Okonite <br />c.Houston Wire and Cable <br />d.or approved equal <br />B.Description: Single conductor insulated wire. <br />C.Conductor Stranding: <br />1.Feeders and Branch Circuits: <br />a.Size 10 AWG and Smaller: Solid. <br />b.Size 8 AWG and Larger: Class B Stranded. <br />D.Insulation Voltage Rating: 600 V. <br />E.Insulation: <br />1.Copper Building Wire: Type THHN/THWN or XHHW-2. <br />2.Conductors routed on roofs or other exterior surface where raceway is exposed to direct <br />sunlight shall be type XHHW-2 insulation. <br />3.Aluminum Building Wire (only where specifically indicated or permitted for substitution): Type <br />XHHW-2. <br />2.04 WIRING CONNECTORS <br />A.Description: Wiring connectors appropriate for the application,suitable for use with the conductors <br />to be connected,and listed as complying with UL 486A-486B or UL 486C as applicable. <br />B.Connectors for Grounding and Bonding: Comply with Section 26 05 26. <br />C.Wiring Connectors for Splices and Taps: <br />1.Splices or taps shall not be allowed for feeder conductors unless specifically noted on plans. <br />2.Where a splice or tap for feeder conductors is noted on the plans,connectors shall be <br />Blackburn insulated multi-tap or approved equal. <br />3.Splices in branch circuit conductors shall be allowed in accessible junction boxes,troughs,or <br />gutters. <br />a.Copper Conductors #10 AWG and smaller: Use twist-on insulated spring connectors. <br />b.Copper Conductors #8 AWG and larger: Use mechanical connectors with gum rubber <br />tape or friction tape.Solderless mechanical connectors with UL listed insulating covers <br />may be used at contractor's option. <br />4.Use of split bolts is not allowed. <br />5."Sta-kon"or other permanent type crimp connectors shall not be used for branch circuit <br />connections. <br />D.Wiring Connectors for Terminations: <br />1.Provide terminal lugs for connecting conductors to equipment furnished with terminations <br />designed for terminal lugs. <br />2.Provide compression adapters for connecting conductors to equipment furnished with <br />mechanical lugs when only compression connectors are specified. <br />3.Where over-sized conductors are larger than the equipment terminations can accommodate, <br />provide connectors suitable for reducing to appropriate size,but not less than required for the <br />rating of the overcurrent protective device. <br />E.Twist-on Insulated Spring Connectors: Rated 600 V,221 degrees F for standard applications and <br />302 degrees F for high temperature applications;pre-filled with sealant and listed as complying <br />Docusign Envelope ID: EF9C08D2-5B75-438B-8D6D-8473F81BD7C4
