OC Motor Pool and Maintenance Shop <br />PDC Project 23017 Facility Natural-Gas Piping 23 11 23 - 4 <br />F.Provide clearance in hangers and from structure and other equipment for installation of insulation <br />and access to valves and fittings. <br />G.Where pipe support members are welded to structural building framing,scrape,brush clean,and <br />apply one coat of zinc rich primer to welding. <br />H.Install valves with stems upright or horizontal,not inverted. <br />I.Pipe vents from gas pressure reducing valves to outdoors and terminate in weather proof hood. <br />J.Sleeve pipes passing through partitions,walls and floors. <br />K.Inserts: <br />1.Where concrete slabs form finished ceiling,locate inserts flush with slab surface. <br />2.Where inserts are omitted,drill through concrete slab from below and provide through-bolt <br />with recessed square steel plate and nut above slab. <br />L.Pipe Hangers and Supports: <br />1.Install in accordance with ASME B31.9. <br />2.Place hangers within 12 inches of each horizontal elbow. <br />3.Prime coat exposed steel hangers and supports. Hangers and supports located in crawl <br />spaces,pipe shafts,and suspended ceiling spaces are not considered exposed. <br />3.03 TESTING <br />A.All gas piping systems shall be tested in strict accordance with the National Fire Protection <br />Association's National Fuel Gas Code NFPA54,and the State Building Code. <br />B.All gas piping system shall be air tested at 50 psi for a period of not less than four (4)hours without <br />loss of pressure. Any leaks that occur shall be repaired and another test started. All joints shall be <br />checked for leaks with a water-soap solution. Where leaks are found,the joint shall be re-made. <br />The piping shall then be put back under pressure and shall hold for four (4)straight hours. <br />3.04 APPLICATION <br />A.Install unions downstream of valves and at equipment or apparatus connections. <br />B.Install brass male adapters each side of valves in copper piped system. Solder adapters to pipe. <br />C.Install ball valves for shut-off and to isolate equipment,part of systems,or vertical risers. <br />3.05 SCHEDULES <br />A.Pipe Hanger Spacing: <br />1.Metal Piping: <br />a.Pipe Size: 1/2 inches to 1-1/4 inches: <br />1)Maximum Hanger Spacing: 6.5 ft. <br />2)Hanger Rod Diameter: 3/8 inches. <br />b.Pipe Size: 1-1/2 inches to 2 inches: <br />1)Maximum Hanger Spacing: 10 ft. <br />2)Hanger Rod Diameter: 3/8 inch. <br />c.Pipe Size: 2-1/2 inches to 3 inches: <br />1)Maximum Hanger Spacing: 10 ft. <br />2)Hanger Rod Diameter: 1/2 inch. <br />d.Pipe Size: 4 inches to 6 inches: <br />1)Maximum Hanger Spacing: 10 ft. <br />END OF SECTION 23 11 23 <br />Docusign Envelope ID: EF9C08D2-5B75-438B-8D6D-8473F81BD7C4
