We have hosted racial equity training for early childcare <br />professionals and others in the community working with children. We hosted racial <br />equity training for participants in the early stages of the Orange County Campaign for <br />Grade Level Reading and worked with a trained facilitator to use a racial equity lens <br />throughout the planning phase of the campaign. Additionally, we hosted a training <br />developed by we are for participants in a planning effort to engage families of young <br />children in leadership roles and to diversify the voices in decision-making roles. Staff <br />members have participated in various racial equity trainings, including REI, <br />OpenSource, and we are. <br /> <br />Each of our in-house initiatives, including our Growing Up Healthy program, Farm to <br />Early Care and Education, and our literacy programming, including Dolly Parton’s <br />Imagination Library, and Raising a Reader are guided by racial equity principles. We <br />have developed a Community of Practice that supports Spanish-speaking early care <br />educators in meeting their community needs. We have engaged in staff development <br />on implicit bias and its impact on our work and dealing with implicit bias and micro- <br />aggressions.
