Schools Only: If you <br />are requesting funds <br />for teaching artists, <br />performing artists, or <br />artists-in-residence, <br />are you booking the <br />artist(s) through the <br />Durham Arts <br />Council's CAPS <br />Program or United <br />Arts Council's Artists <br />in Schools Program? <br />No <br />Organization <br />Description <br />At McDougle Elementary School, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is <br />a group of parents and staff who work closely together and with the <br />administration to plan and organize school events, raise funds for the <br />school, and support staff and parents in whatever way is needed. This <br />includes: <br />Educational Activities: The PTA provides all teachers and staff with a <br />stipend (approximately $10,000 each year), pays for cultural events, funds <br />campus cleanup, provides stipends to support after-school clubs, and many <br />other related activities. <br />Community Building: Sponsors and assists with events that focus on <br />helping parents connect and provide social opportunities for kids—including <br />the Popsicles on the Playground, End of Year Block Party, and Gardens <br />and Grounds Clean Up. <br />Book Fair: The PTA runs the Book Fair at the school, raising money for <br />books for the classrooms while also fundraising to provide books for <br />families who might not be able to shop at the Fair themselves. <br />Advocacy: Provides important information to parents about policy changes <br />at the state and local level. <br />Teacher Appreciation: The PTA helps support our teachers all year long <br />with a Back-to-School Breakfast, Teacher Appreciation W eek, Teachers' <br />Lounge Snacks, and our big lounge Renovation in 2022. <br />Family Support: Provides funds for parent education & babysitting for <br />evening school events and raises funds for Families Helping Families to <br />provide food, supplies, and other support to families in need. <br />How many Orange <br />County residents <br />does the organization <br />serve? <br />490 <br />Docusign Envelope ID: 59ACB4ED-D5D7-45C2-B84C-BF8208274E4B
