Audience Description The audience for the face jugs will be approximately 69 fourth grade <br />students whose demographics are listed below (based on the rising 4th <br />grade class): <br />Female - 36 (52.17%) <br />Male - 33 (47.83%) <br />African-American - 11 (15.94%) <br />Asian/Asian American - 3 (4.35%) <br />Caucasian - 42 (60.87%) <br />Hispanic/ Latino - 12 (17.39%) <br />Other (Multiracial) - 1 (1.45%) <br />The audience for the poetry workshop will be made up of approximately 88 <br />fifth grade students who represent the following demographics (based on <br />the rising 5th grade class): <br />Female - 39 (44.32%) <br />Male - 49 (55.68%) <br />African-American - 9 (10.23%) <br />Asian/Asian American - 4 (4.55%) <br />Caucasian - 54 (61.36%) <br />Hispanic/ Latino - 17 (19.32%) <br />Other (Multiracial) - 4 (4.55%) <br />The audience for the assembly performances will be the entire <br />school, which currently has a population of 490, 35% who receive free or <br />reduced lunch. Based on the 2023-2024 school year, the demographics <br />are as follows: <br />Male - 252 (51.43%) <br />Female - 238 (48.57%) <br />Asian - 16 (3.27%) <br />Black or African American - 74 (15.1%) <br />W hite - 280 (57.14%) <br />Hispanic/Latino - 87 (17.76%) <br />Multi-Racial - 33 (6.73%) <br />The audience for the third grade African drumming workshops will be <br />approximately 88 third grade <br />students whose demographics are listed below(based on the rising 3rd <br />grade class): <br />Female - 38 (43.18%) <br />Male - 50 (56.82%) <br />African-American - 16 (18.18%) <br />Asian/Asian American - 2 (2.27%) <br />Caucasian - 48 (54.55%) <br />Hispanic/ Latino - 15 (17.05%) <br />Other (Multiracial) - 7 (7.95%) <br />Location Description The face jugs project will take place in the art class of MES. The poetry <br />residency will take place in the 5th grade classrooms. As the students will <br />be in a familiar setting, they will already have all required accommodations <br />(based on their specific IEPs and 504s) in place at the time of each event. <br />The assemblies will take place in the gym.
