1/30/24, 4:17 PM HSOA-24-43
https://chapelhillnc.workflow.opengov.com/#/explore/records/62828/react-form-details/62828 9/18
Describe the proposed program and the target population to benefit from the program. Please also
explain how the program aligns with the Town of Chapel Hill and Carrboro's Human Services Program
Results Framework and/or Orange County's BOCC Goals and Priorities (250 words or less).
Target Population
The program target population demographics table is included as an
attachement on the application cover page. Please download the excel
spreadsheet and fill out the demographic data in the table and then upload it
with your application. Provide one copy per program that you are requesting
funding for.
Program Cost
This cost per individual must reflect the total program budget divided by the
total number of program individuals in this application.
Actual Cost 2022-2023
Total Program Cost (Actual 2022-2023)
20405
Total Number of Individuals (Actual 2022-2023)
88
The Earthkeepers Afterschool Program addresses Chapel Hill and Carrboro's
Strategic Objective 1, or "children improve their education outcomes," as well as
Orange County's goal to "ensure a high quality of life and lifelong learning that
champions diversity, education at all levels, libraries, parks, recreation, and
animal welfare." Through our programs, children ages 5-14 from all walks of life
can learn naturalist skills that improve their awareness, creativity, and problem-
solving abilities. Both the students and their teachers are encouraged to ask
questions to heighten their curiosity, challenge their observations, and keep them
wondering. Students develop a relationship with what sparks their interest,
motivating them to preserve and protect our environment, continue learning, and
use these skills in the classroom. In FY 23-24, we brought our program to three
middle schools in Orange County with an elementary school to start spring 2024.
In FY 24-25, we intend to continue the programs at the existing schools and
expand into additional elementary schools.
Docusign Envelope ID: F9E3EFAB-16FA-4281-B2B8-12C1DD0C3608
