Please also
explain how the program aligns with the Town of Chapel Hill and Carrboro's Human Services Program
Results Framework and/or Orange County's BOCC Goals and Priorities (250 words or less).
12000 12000
Burwell's visitor services provide historical education, tours, programs, and other
services. This aligns with the following BOCC goal: "Ensure a high quality of life &
lifelong learning that champions diversity, education at all levels, libraries, parks,
recreation, and animal welfare." The target populations are adults and school-
aged children of all backgrounds; our tours, lessons, and experiences are
carefully researched in order to offer accurate and engaging programs to our
diverse audience. Our goal is to maintain a safe site and to provide free and
inspiring visitor services for all. The Burwell School has been an instrumental part
of Hillsborough and Orange County's historic landscape since the 1970s. We
welcome visitors of all ages, both in-person and online, to learn about the girls'
academy, Elizabeth Keckly and other people of color, and life in the nineteenth
century. Our programs are designed to promote an interest in historical learning
that extends well past the duration of the visit.
Docusign Envelope ID: F5E5F5C2-1D2F-4220-AB83-15724033E4F0
