1/16/24, 11:54 AM HSOA-24-58
https://chapelhillnc.workflow.opengov.com/#/explore/records/62597/files 11/17
Describe the proposed program and the target population to benefit from the program. Please also
explain how the program aligns with the Town of Chapel Hill and Carrboro's Human Services Program
Results Framework and/or Orange County's BOCC Goals and Priorities (250 words or less).
Target Population
The program target population demographics table is included as an
attachement on the application cover page. Please download the excel
spreadsheet and fill out the demographic data in the table and then upload it
with your application. Provide one copy per program that you are requesting
funding for.
Program Cost
This cost per individual must reflect the total program budget divided by the
total number of program individuals in this application.
The Orange County Historical Museum: Education Through Exhibits aligns with
the Orange County BOCC’s goal “Ensure a high quality of life and lifelong learning
that
champions diversity, education at all levels, libraries, parks, recreation, and
animal welfare.” Through this program, OCHM will continue to present free,
innovative exhibits to engage and educate all residents about the rich cultural
history of Orange County. Our goal is to engage with Orange County residents of
all ages, genders, races, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds. Museum
staff work with various members of the community and community groups to
determine what content should be presented and how to promote shared
authority in the museum. The presentation and content of exhibits are designed
to appeal to a wide audience, with various interactive elements geared toward
visitors of all ages. Our goal is for all visitors to be able to relate to and engage
with the stories and themes presented in the exhibits.
To promote lifelong learning, a variety of educational opportunities will be offered,
both for adult learners and for pre-K-12 students. The Museum has and will
continue to work with Orange County Public Schools, charter schools,
homeschool groups, and others to design and facilitate field trips that align with
the school curriculum. Our dedicated Kids’ Space allows children to interact with
history in an accessible and fun way through play. Monthly Museum programs
will provide further learning opportunities for the public, through which the
museum will strive to promote diversity and lifelong learning.
Docusign Envelope ID: 711B0470-AB31-4239-BFAB-654356E2FD21
