KCI utilized the data to identify potential opportunities to increase waste diversion.
✓ Waste Composition Study, Orange County and University of North Carolina, NC
Robin directed the Orange County waste composition study, which included an audit of the waste
generated on the UNC at Chapel Hill campus. The study included three generator sectors for the city
and four areas of the campus. Project activities included pre-planning, sorting representative
samples of the municipal solid waste, analyzing the resulting data, preparing a final report that
compared the results with baseline data, and developing recommendations for further waste
diversion.
✓ Comprehensive Waste Composition Study, Pinellas County, FL
Robin managed the planning and completion of a ten-day composition study in Pinellas County.
Objectives of the study included (1) characterizing Class I waste received at the county’s facility; (2)
comparing waste streams of municipalities with and without universal, carted single stream
recycling; (3) determining the amount of organics in the commercial waste stream, in particular
businesses believed to have large quantities of food waste; and (4) characterizing bulky waste that is
landfilled in order to determine if any materials could be processed and utilized as fuel in the waste
to energy plant. Field work entailed sampling and manually sorting waste from six generator sectors
and conducting visual audits of bulky waste. Results are being utilized to identify and evaluate future
programs and facility modifications.
✓ Resort-wide Waste Composition Audit, Confidential Theme Park, FL
Robin managed the planning and execution of a two-week waste composition audit that entailed
three concurrent types of studies: (1) pulling and sorting representative samples from compactors
and dumpsters from target facilities including parks, hotels, commercial districts, and
administration; (2) sorting up to three bags of waste from specific operations within each facility;
and (3) visual audits of bulky/Class III waste loads. Two field crews were employed to complete the
study within the timeframe required by the client. Work also entailed data analysis, report
preparation, and presentation of results to managers. Results were utilized to identify additional
waste diversion opportunities and options.

Docusign Envelope ID: 1223AA0B-DDEC-4EBE-8FEA-427010558A5C
