35 <br /> Detention Center Staffing Analysis Orange County, NC <br /> #11: Develop updated Human Resources job descriptions for the Detention Corporal <br /> (currently listed as Correction Officer II) and Detention Sergeant (presently missing). This <br /> is in addition to the aforementioned Desk Manuals outlining key duties and <br /> responsibilities for all ranks and/or key positions in the Detention Center. <br /> #12: In order to have appropriate daily supervision, develop an updated scheduling policy <br /> that prohibits same-shift Sergeants and Corporals from having same-day scheduled leave <br /> time. <br /> #13: Maintain four shift Sergeant positions in OCDC on the 12-hour rotating schedule. <br /> #14: Maintain four shift Corporal positions in OCDC on the 12-hour rotating schedule. <br /> (4.3) Detention Center Supporting Position: <br /> Detention Center Supporting Positions include the following personnel: <br /> • Laundry Services / Janitorial Support - one Maintenance Technician <br /> • Front Counter/ Receptionist - Administrative Assistant <br /> • Kitchen - one Jail Cook Supervisor, three Jail Cooks <br /> • Transportation Operations - one Corporal, four Detention Officers <br /> • Medical - Contracted <br /> (4.3.1) Laundry, Front Counter and Kitchen <br /> With respect to Laundry, Front Counter, and Kitchen operations, the following is noted: <br /> • The laundry's Maintenance Technician is currently assigned detainee laundry <br /> duties and responsibilities including linen retrieval, washing, and return. <br /> Additionally,this position performs janitorial duties such as managing the supplies <br /> used for detainee cleaning of personal cells. This position is currently filled by a <br /> certified detention officer without holding that job classification. Given how the <br /> Detention Center operates, this is the best approach to providing laundry and <br /> detainee janitorial services. This position should be maintained at one full-time <br /> equivalent (FTE). <br /> • The front counter/receptionist position is assigned to the Detention Center public <br /> lobby to answer telephones, manage attorney and social worker traffic, respond to <br /> lobby inquiries, support the Transportation Corporal as necessary, and perform <br /> Matrix Consulting Group 30 <br />
