Working excessive overtime can lead to physical fatigue, which can increase <br /> the risk of accidents and injuries on the job. A study conducted by the National Institute <br /> for Occupational Safety and Health found that correctional staff who worked more than <br /> 50 hours per week had a higher risk of work-related injuries compared to those who <br /> worked fewer hours. A study published in the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology <br /> found that staff who worked excessive overtime had higher levels of emotional <br /> exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment. Various studies <br /> suggest significant risks with working more than 14 hours per week in overtime.3 These <br /> factors can lead to burnout, which can impact job performance and overall well-being.
