The GRV8000 comparator acts
as a four wire audio interface to the consoles and and IP intercace to the network and RF
stations at the RF sub sites.
2.2.3 Orange County Simulcast VHF RF Sites
The final RF sites ultimately to be used for the final county wide VHF simulcast paging network will
be determined by Orange County and will be selected from sites being utilized as part of the new P25
simulcast network. The sites for phase one of the VHF Simulcast Paging network that are to be used
with equipment included in this proposal are listed below:
2.2.3.1 Eno Mountain Site:
New equipment will be installed inside the existing equipment building. A tower stress and
loading analysis will be performed to determine the status of the tower and feasibility of installation
of new VHF Antenna System.
Any costs related for structurally upgrading or improving the equipment shelter or tower shall
be the responsibility of Orange County and is not reflected in the costs for this proposal.
Equipment to be located at the site includes:
• (1)VHF GTR8000 radio
• (1)RF VHF antenna and transmission line
• (1)TRAK 9100 redundant modular frequency and timing standard
• (1)SRX345 Network router
• (1)Juniper Ethernet switch
2.2.3.2 Chatham Mountain Site:
New equipment will be installed inside the existing equipment building. A tower stress and
loading analysis will be performed to determine the status of the tower and feasibility of installation
of the new VHF Antenna system. The new antennas system will be installed at approximately five
hundred foot elevation on the UNC TV Tower. The lower level will be support simulcast networks
and minimize simulcast interference issues. This will also allow the Radio equipment to be installed
in the building at ground level eliminating servicing issues with the current Radio equipment that is
mounted on equipment platforms high on the tower
Any costs related for structurally upgrading or improving the tower shall be the responsibility
of Orange County and is not reflected in the costs for this proposal.
Equipment to be located at the site includes:
• (1)VHF GTR8000 radio
Orange County,North Carolina July 19,2024
VHF Paging System Upgrades Use or disclosure of this proposal is subject
to the restrictions on the cover page.
© Motorola Solutions Confidential Restricted System Description 2-3
