Lloyd 1-1-65 36 to 49 Illness & disability of persons <br /> in home. <br /> Same <br />Lora Liza Ann Winston $51.00 <br />Discussion ensued on the Wlker Milling Company Building. Upon motion of Commissioner <br />Cleveland, seconded.by Commissioner Ray, it was proposed that the County of Orange purchase the <br />bricks of the Walker Building from contractor S. C. Cooper at a cost of $45.00 per 1,000. Said <br />bricks are to be held for six months to allow the Historic Hillsborough Commission and/or the <br />Hillsborough Historical Society ample time to secure funds for purchase of same. Chairman <br />Bennett called for a vote on said motion. Commissioners Cleveland and Ray voted Yes. Commissioners <br />Smith and Walker voted No. Chairman Bennett broke the tie and the motion was passed. <br />The. County Attorney and the County Admistrator brought to the attention of the Board an <br />offer which had been made by James R. Farlow of Chapel Hill. Mr. Farlow had offered to purchase <br />a portion of the Mary Barnett tract which is now covered by an Old Age Assistance Lien. Mr. Farlow <br />had offered Orange County $200.00 for a release deed on a certain portion of said property. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Walker and unanimously adopted, <br />the Board rejected Mr. Farlow's offer of $200.00 for a portion of the Mary Barnett property. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner Smith, and unanimously adopted, <br />the following tax listers were appointed for the year, 1964: <br />Hillsboro Township Remus J. Smith, Jr. <br />Little River Township Mrs. Robert Murray <br />Eno Township Mrs. J. D. Griffin <br />Bingham Township E-velyn Tear <br />Cheeks Township Mrs. Henry Heath <br />Cedar Grove Township Joe Compton <br />Chapel Hill Township L. R. Cheek <br />Chairman Bennett presented a letter from the Asheville Citizen Times Publishing Company of <br />Asheville, N. C. Said letter requested the County to purchase space in the inaugural edition for <br />Dan K. Moore. Said request was denied. <br />Sherman Shelton, Negro Farm agent, reported on his recent trip as technical leader of a group <br />of ten Africans studying agricultural problems in this country. Mr. Shelton thanked the Board for <br />their courtisies extended to him during his leave of absence. <br />S. M. Gattis, County Administrator, explained to the Board the time schedule involved in <br />the tax revaluation program currently being completed in Orange County. <br />Sheriff, C. D. Knight, informed the Board that Judge W. Marshall Smith would not be hold- <br />ing Recorders Court on Wednesday, December 9. Sheriff Knight stated that due to the number of <br />Superior Court Terms, the Recorders Court Docket would become congested if some of the cases were <br />not tried immediately. He requested that the Board appoint a Vice Recorders Court Judge to hold <br />court on this date. <br />Upon moticn of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner Cleveland, and unanimously <br />adopted, A. H. Graham, Sr., of Hillsboro, was appointed Vice Recorders Court Judge for the purpose <br />of holding court on Wednesday, December 9. <br />Juries were drawn for the following terms of court: <br />January 18, 1965, Civil Term 24 name <br />January 25, 1965, Civil Term 18 names <br />February 22, 1965, Criminal Term 36 names <br />
