5 <br /> 1 Chair Bedford said she had heard that part of the increase was related to the widening <br /> 2 project on 1-40, but that based on Ricky Baker's statement it seems like it is a general across the <br /> 3 board increase. <br /> 4 Jeff Cabe said that the calls for I-40 accidents were for New Hope and Hillsborough <br /> 5 districts. He said that 1-40 contributes to the increase, but there are other issues as well. <br /> 6 Chair Bedford noted that Commissioners Richards and Portie-Ascott both attended the <br /> 7 ribbon cutting for the Efland station. <br /> 8 Ricky Baker said that the districts all work together to address accidents on the interstates. <br /> 9 He said that Efland and Hillsborough districts work together on accidents on 1-85, and that <br /> 10 Hillsborough also works with Eno fire district. <br /> 11 <br /> 12 Slide #9 <br /> Fire District: Orange Rural <br /> • Chief Jeff Cabe GE RU <br /> • Placed order for a new engine <br /> • Completed our ISO inspection <br /> • Slight increase in call volume <br /> • Replaced hydraulic rescue tools <br /> • Filled all vacant positions <br /> 9 <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Commissioner Portie-Ascott asked what types of incidents are contributing to the increase <br /> 15 in call volume. <br /> 16 Jeff Cabe said in the Orange Rural Fire District, it is mostly fire alarms and medical <br /> 17 responses. <br /> 18 Phillip Nasseri said that there has been 4% growth in EMS calls in White Cross and there <br /> 19 is more traffic flowing through the southern part of the county. <br /> 20 Jeff Cabe said the northern part of the county is getting more traffic from people heading <br /> 21 to Danville, Virginia. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 <br />
