Chair Jamezetta Bedford, Vice-Chair Sally Greene and <br /> 12 Commissioners Amy Fowler, Jean Hamilton, Earl McKee, Phyllis Portie-Ascott, and Anna <br /> 13 Richards (arrived at 7:06 pm) <br /> 14 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: NONE <br /> 15 COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT. John Roberts <br /> 16 COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Travis Myren, Interim Deputy County Manager <br /> 17 Caitlin Fenhagen, and Clerk to the Board Laura Jensen. (All other staff members will be identified <br /> 18 appropriately below) <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Chair Bedford called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.All commissioners were present. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> 23 Chair Bedford pulled item 8-1 from the consent agenda for consideration as item 4-e. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 2. Public Comments (Limited to One Hour) <br /> 26 a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> 27 There was no one signed up to speak. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 b. Matters on the Printed Agenda <br /> 30 (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda below.) <br /> 31 <br /> 32 3. Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> 33 Commissioner McKee said he had the opportunity to be part of the Inter-City Visit with the <br /> 34 Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce in Ann Arbor, Michigan around a week ago. He said they saw <br /> 35 some very innovative approaches to problems they were having that are similar to challenges <br /> 36 faced here. <br /> 37 Commissioner Fowler said she attended the Board of Health meeting last Wednesday. <br /> 38 She said the board will continue to dive into the issue of teen mental health and social media use. <br /> 39 She extended thanks to Orange County Emergency Management personnel for assisting those <br /> 40 affected by Hurricane Helene in Western NC. <br /> 41 Vice-Chair Greene also thanked Orange County first responders who have assisted <br /> 42 victims of Hurricane Helene. She also said the GoTriangle Board of Trustees accepted the <br /> 43 resignation of Charles Latuga as head of GoTriangle last week, as he decided the position is not <br /> 44 a good fit for him at this time. She said he was hired to help build a commuter rail line and that <br /> 45 plan is now on hold. She said the GoTriangle Attorney, Byron Smith, is currently acting CEO. <br /> 46 Chair Bedford said a press release she saw today said that 38 personnel from 7 different <br /> 47 agencies have been sent from Orange County on 9 different state missions to help victims of <br /> 48 Hurricane Helene. She echoed thanks given by Commissioner Fowler and Vice-Chair Greene to <br /> 49 those individuals. She recognized Nancy Coston, DSS Director, and thanked her for her many <br /> 50 years of service and congratulated her on her upcoming retirement. She notified residents of the <br /> 51 second community CLUP 2050 meeting on Thursday night at 6:00 pm at the American Legion <br />
