<br /> <br />Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br />Animal Services Advisory Board: <br />Current Vacancies <br />1. Currently have 1 vacancy on ASAB – Town of Hillsborough position. <br />2. Roni Peterson and Michael Dempsey were both appointed to ASAB by BOCC. <br /> <br /> <br />Old Business: Youth delegate committee – members have been working on action items and <br />will present proposal to ASAB at our next meeting. <br /> <br />Information Items: Presented by Tiani Stamey <br />1. Dr. Strong’s last day at OCAS was Oct 4. She received an award as 2024 Leader of <br />the Year for the National Animal Care & Control Association prior to leaving. <br />2. New director position is open and expected to be filled early 2025. <br />3. Events to support OCAS – Trunk or Treat, rabies clinic. <br />4. ACOs recently attended a professional development workshop and found it <br />beneficial. <br />5. Holly Meyer has moved to the Orange County Finance Dept, so Krista Watkins has <br />been internally promoted to position of Business Officer. <br />6. The Dog Enrichment Pathway is in progress – working on plantings, agility features, <br />scent features. <br />7. OCAS had chili cook-off event as a staff social event. <br />8. Live release rates and capacity are still good for both cats and dogs. <br />9. OCAS is accepting pet food donations for Western NC relief efforts. <br />10. OCAS is acquiring an electric vehicle for Animal Control and Training manager. <br /> <br />Informal Discussion: Discussion among members about helping Western NC post Hurricane <br />Helene with hay and supplies for animals.
