12 <br /> Anthony Weston said the original plan in 2015 was to build an eco-village but that proved <br /> financially impractical and now they need more flexibility. <br /> Slide #17 <br /> Who we are <br /> Common Ground Ecovillage(formerly Hart's Mill Ecovillage)is a project to <br /> create a compact"agrarian ecovillage"of about ao flexible and affordable <br /> homes(primary residences and ADUs)on about io acres of our isz-acre land <br /> just west of Hillsborough and Efland.Buildings will be designed for low or <br /> positive ecological impact.We have been working on establishing an active,a <br /> multi-generational,and diverse neighborhood since our MPD-CZ rezoning in <br /> zols and are now ready to move forward with an alternative plan.Besides <br /> our established and growing farm,most of the land is being preserved as <br /> open space:orchard, meadows and pasture,streams and pond,and <br /> woodlands with hiking trails. <br /> Slide #18 <br /> A work in progress <br /> Building community:A core group of about 25 members have actively sustained <br /> planning and other activities since zoiz,with significant engagement by 20-30 more <br /> people.A member-financed LLC has raised over s600,000 to buy the land and support <br /> building and planning.Regular workshops and open houses gamer dozens of visitors,and <br /> our mailing list now includes over zoo names. <br /> Detailed planning:Sitework planning and some schematic architecture are substantially <br /> complete. <br /> Working farm:We have established an active CSA(Community-Sponsored Agriculture) <br /> farm that supplies 6o+area households weekly.Free vegetables are regularly distributed <br /> to neighbors.CGEV received a sio,coo OC Agricultural Economic Development grant to <br /> expand the CSA'swashing and packing facility <br />
