APPROVED 10/15/24 MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> BUSINESS MEETING <br /> September 5, 2024 <br /> 7:00 p.m. <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a Business Meeting on Thursday, <br /> September 5, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Whitted Human Services Center in Hillsborough, NC. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Jamezetta Bedford, Vice-Chair Sally Greene and <br /> Commissioners Amy Fowler (arrived at 7:01 pm), Jean Hamilton, Earl McKee (arrived at 7:02 <br /> pm), Phyllis Portie-Ascott, and Anna Richards <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT. None. <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT. County Manager Travis Myren, Interim Deputy County Manager <br /> Caitlin Fenhagen, and Clerk to the Board Laura Jensen. (All other staff members will be identified <br /> appropriately below) <br /> Chair Bedford called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All commissioners were present, <br /> except Commissioner Fowler and Commissioner McKee. <br /> Commissioner Fowler arrived at 7:01 pm. <br /> 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> None. <br /> 2. Public Comments (Limited to One Hour) <br /> a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> Chair Bedford reminded those in attendance of the procedures for making public <br /> comments. <br /> There was no one signed up to speak about this item. <br /> Commissioner McKee arrived at 7:02 pm. <br /> b. Matters on the Printed Agenda <br /> (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda below.) <br /> 3. Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> Commissioner Richards said she did a couple of things this summer related to the Board, <br /> including a celebration for the new County Manager, Travis Myren, when he took his oath of office. <br /> She said she and Vice-Chair Greene have been working on the Naming Committee for the <br /> Southern Branch library, and they are close to a decision. She said she also attended Juneteenth <br /> and July 4t" celebrations. <br /> Commissioner McKee said he is looking forward to an interesting and productive fall <br /> session. <br /> Vice-Chair Greene said she just got back from Raleigh where she attended day 1 of 2 <br /> days of the North Carolina Affordable Housing Conference. She said she was pleased that Habitat <br /> of Orange County received the Homeownership Award for their Gattis Court Project in Northside <br /> made possible through the Northside Neighborhood Initiative. She said this made homeownership <br /> possible for 4 families. <br />
