Attachment 1 <br /> Highway Safety Improvement Program: <br /> • Purpose- same as Spot Safety Program but typically used for projects with higher <br /> costs and longer delivery timeline <br /> • Federal funded program subject to federal regulations, recurring funding <br /> • Projects assessed on a quarterly basis for relative cost/benefit scoring based on <br /> anticipated reduction in frequency and/or severity of crashes <br /> • Projects programmed in STIP but not subject to SPOT process <br /> • ROW acquisition and utility relocation costs are eligible but should be minimized <br /> • Current/Recent Projects in Orange County <br /> o Efland Cedar Grove Road south of Highland Farm Road- Realign curve <br /> Annual Maintenance Improvement - Resurfacing: <br /> • Program Purpose- Repair and Resurface existing pavements to provide for <br /> acceptable operation and maintenance condition <br /> • State funded program <br /> • Recurring annual allocation per county/division as stipulated by enacted State <br /> budget <br /> • 5-year program developed for implementation and updated annually <br /> • Projects selected based on relative ranking of biennial pavement condition <br /> survey, engineering judgement and local jurisdiction input <br /> • Close coordination with local stakeholders is critical in project selection and <br /> scheduling <br /> • Widening of existing travel lanes and/or installation of paved shoulders possible <br /> where warranted but limited to no more than 10% of program <br /> • Other improvements not eligible <br />
