ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH <br /> OCTOBER 2024 <br /> WHEREAS , October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month ; and <br /> WHEREAS , this October marks the 79th anniversary of National Disability Employment <br /> Awareness Month , with a history tracing back to 1945 , focusing only on people with <br /> physical disabilities and has evolved today to acknowledge the importance of recognizing <br /> the inclusion of people with all nature of disabilities ; and <br /> WHEREAS , the purpose of National Disability Employment Awareness Month is to <br /> educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied <br /> contributions of America ' s workers . with disabilities ; and <br /> WHEREAS , during National Disability Employment Awareness Month , Orange County <br /> recognizes the immense contributions of disabled Americans , and recommits to delivering <br /> America ' s full promise of equal dignity , respect , and opportunity for every American and <br /> Orange County welcomes the talents of all people , including people with disabilities ; and <br /> WHEREAS , Orange County remains committed to continuing our efforts in building an <br /> inclusive community , increasing access to good jobs for all workers , including disabled <br /> workers and reinforcing the value and talent people with disabilities add to our workplaces <br /> and communities ; and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED that Orange County recognizes and <br /> commemorates the 79th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness <br /> Month and declares October 2024 as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Orange <br /> County ; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the U . S . Department of Labor' s Office of Disability <br /> Employment Policy and Orange County call upon employers , schools , and other <br /> community organizations in Orange County to ensure that disabled workers have access <br /> to good jobs every month of every year ; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of Commissioners pledges <br /> to continue to take steps throughout the year to recruit , hire , retain , and advance <br /> individuals with disabilities and work to pursue the goals of opportunity , full participation , <br /> economic self-sufficiency , and independent living for people with disabilities . <br /> This , the 1st day of October , 2024 . <br /> �po t It callIeP <br /> dr� <br /> JkGezetfa Bedfor hair <br /> � � Orange County B and of Commissioners <br />
