Article 6: Development Standards 15 <br /> Section 6.8: Landscaping, Buffers&Tree Protection <br /> TABLE 6.8.5.C.2: PLANTING MATERIAL, MIXING OF <br /> REQUIREDTOTAL TREES PLANTED MIN SPECIES <br /> OF ONE <br /> ON SITE SPECIES <br /> 11 to 20 Trees 3 40% <br /> 21 to 40 Trees 4 35% <br /> 41 to 80 Trees 6 30% <br /> 81 to 150 Trees 8 25% <br /> Over 150 Trees 10 20% <br /> (3) Deciduous and Evergreen Shrubs <br /> (a) All shrubs shall be cold hardy and heat tolerant. <br /> (b) Upright shrubs shall be a minimum of 15 inches in height at the time of <br /> planting. <br /> (c) Shrubs shall not be planted closer than three feet on center. Shrubs shall <br /> not be planted closer than three feet to planted trees, nor within six feet <br /> of existing protected trees; however, no more than 25% of the root <br /> protection zone of an existing tree may be disturbed with new plantings. <br /> (d) When planted as a hedge, the maximum spacing for 24-inch high <br /> deciduous shrubs shall be 36 inches on center. Spacing for other size <br /> shrubs shall be determined by the Planning Director or designee based <br /> on the proposed species. <br /> (4) Preferred Species <br /> The Planning Director shall maintain a list of plants by type and their preferred <br /> location or use on sites developed under this Section. The list shall include <br /> drought tolerant and native species <br /> (5) Prohibited Plants <br /> The Planning Director shall maintain a list of plants that are not permitted for any <br /> use due to their invasive tendencies. Such species shall not be planted as <br /> landscaping for any purpose. <br /> (D) Installation <br /> (1) The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) maintains standards for tree <br /> plantings. All installations shall adhere to the standards published by the ISA. <br /> The Planning Director will have available the planting details as a booklet. <br /> (E) Maintenance <br /> (1) All plantings must be maintained in a healthy state. Should any vegetation that <br /> was required to meet the standards of this section die within two years of <br /> planting, the plants must be replaced with the same or comparable species. <br /> (2) The Planning Director may conduct inspections to monitor the health and status <br /> of the required landscaping. <br /> 6.8.6 Landscape Usrt—, Buffers <br /> (A) Purpose <br /> Landscape use buffers are intended to screen and buffer lower intensity/density uses <br /> from incompatible higher intensity/density land uses.
