ORANGE COUNTY
SHORT RANGE TRANSIT PLAN
HILL TO HILL CONSOLIDATION PHASE 1
Short Term
Background: The Orange-Chapel Hill Connector provides midday and local coverage between Chapel Hill and Hillsborough, while
GoTriangle Route 420 operates during the peak commute hours only and with fewer local stops. The similar but still deviating route
patterns can confuse riders, and there is some service redundancy in the current
B6
schedule.
Strategy Overview: When GoTriangle shifts Route 420 to run on Highway 40
after the completion of construction, the Orange-Chapel Hill Connector will also
shift to match the alignment of Route 420 exactly, with the same stops. Local 7- Hillsborough
connections in Hillsborough can be made to both Hillsborough Circulator loops. °
This Phase does not fully consolidate the two routes, and rather focuses on 65
Wat°,s, 86
running them along the same route pattern and to be less redundant, allowing for
full consolidation in the future.
Existing OCH Proposed OCH
G
Qa
ae
Span of Service ORANGE 0
Monday to Friday 8:30 AM —4:30 PM 8:30 AM — 3:30 PM 66
Frequency Eubanks
EuOanks ftd
Monday to Friday 60 minutes 60 minutes °
HOnestea
es
s,
DURHAM
Chapel Hill
s _
Hill to Hill Consolidation Phase l fFrz^pm Sal
Carrboro
—Proposed Orange-Chapel Hill Connector Ra,°i9h qy
—Future GoTriangle Route 42D(Peak Only)
--Current Orange-Chapel Hill Connector °y
Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates 12
