MINUTES
ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES
April 18,2022
3. FNS Waivers and Impacts
Lindsey Shewmaker presented a summary of all the current FNS waivers related to the public
health emergency. The presentation included anticipated end dates, most of which are likely to
occur this summer. The end result will see many families left with reduced benefits, and in some
cases no FNS benefits. Staff are working with community partners to ensure there are safety nets in
place.
4. Director's Report
CRP funding has been renewed for one more year so the agency has another$100,000 in revenue
that will be added to the budget.
Child-only Work First cases received a one-time payment of$500 as part of recovery plans.
Staff have been working hard to get payments of file for the water program and other energy
programs. Additional funds will be released soon and a second energy payment will be coming to
clients' accounts in May.
VII. Announcements
Oscar Fleming moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:29 pm. Ann Wilkerson seconded the motion. The motion
was carried without dissent.
Submitted by:
Nancy Coston, DSS Director
Pat Garavaglia, Chair
2
