MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES <br /> April 18,2022 <br /> THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MET ON TUESDAY: April 18, 2022 virtually <br /> BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS PRESENT: Pat Garavaglia, Oscar Fleming, Jamezetta Bedford, <br /> Jane Garrett, and Ann Wilkerson <br /> GUEST: None <br /> BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS ABSENT: None. <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Nancy Coston, Director; Lindsey Shewmaker, Human Services Manager; and Crystal <br /> Mitchell, Human Services Manager. <br /> I. Call to Order and Introductions <br /> DSS Chair, Pat Garavaglia, called the meeting to order at 4:02 pm. <br /> II. Board Comments <br /> Pat Garavaglia noted that she and Lindsey Shewmaker attended the Board of County Commissioner's <br /> Meeting on the 14t" and talked about the agency's accomplishments and goals for next year. She <br /> added that it went well. <br /> Ann Wilkerson stated that she enjoyed the staff appreciation event. Pat Garavaglia agreed. Nancy <br /> Coston thanked the Board members for attending and contributing to the staff gifts. <br /> III. Public Comments <br /> None. <br /> IV. Agenda Changes <br /> None. <br /> V. Action Items <br /> On a motion by Jamezetta Bedford, the Board approved the minutes of February 21, 2022. Ann <br /> Wilkerson seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent. <br /> VI. Items for Discussion and/or Decision <br /> 1. Building Renovations and Staff Moves <br /> The Southern Human Services Center needs a new HVAC system. It was originally supposed to be <br /> installed in May and requires relocating some staff for up to 28 weeks. The installation has now <br /> been delayed until the fall. When the installation occurs, the plan is that public assistance staff will <br /> stay onsite and have to relocate to other spaces within the building. Child welfare staff will relocate <br /> to Europa and Hillsborough Commons. <br /> 2. Foster Care Overview <br /> Crystal Mitchell presented an overview of foster care in Orange County. The presentation included <br /> data and demographics on children in custody in Orange County. <br /> 1 <br />
