MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES <br /> January 31,2020 <br /> THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MET ON FRIDAY: January 31, 2020 at the <br /> Hillsborough Commons, Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br /> BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS PRESENT: Ann Wilkerson, Pat Garavaglia, Susie Enoch, and <br /> Jamezetta Bedford. <br /> GUEST: None. <br /> BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS ABSENT: Tamara Dempsey-Tanner. <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Nancy Coston, Director; Sharron Hinton, Human Services Manager; Lindsey Shewmaker, <br /> Human Services Manager; and Crystal Mitchell, Human Services Manager. <br /> I. Call to Order and Introductions <br /> DSS Vice-Chair, Ann Wilkerson, called the meeting to order at 10:07 am. <br /> II. Board Comments <br /> Pat Garavaglia asked that a holiday overview be presented at the next meeting. <br /> III. Public Comments <br /> None. <br /> IV. Agenda Changes <br /> None. <br /> V. Action Items <br /> On a motion by Pat Garavaglia, the Board approved the minutes of December 2019. Susie Enoch <br /> seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent. <br /> VI. Items for Discussion and/or Decision <br /> 1. Update on Buildings and Moves <br /> Nancy Coston informed the Board that the new roof will be installed at Hillsborough Commons <br /> beginning on Monday. By mid-March staff hope to have the roof installation complete and the <br /> quarantined rooms cleaned and reopened. <br /> The Skills Development Center is being relocated effective Monday to Southern Human Services. <br /> This is a six-month solution with a lease starting July 1, 2020 at the Europa Center. The Skills <br /> Development Center will be housed at the Europa for three years until the permanent solution in <br /> Carrboro is designed and built. The timeline is a result of a combination of sale of the building and <br /> mold and environmental concerns. There will be a small resource room for computer usage and <br /> several community partners will be co-located at Southern Human Services for now. <br /> 2. Budget <br /> 1 <br />
