MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES <br />July 22, 2024 <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MET ON MONDAY: July 22, 2024 at Hillsborough <br />Commons. <br /> <br />BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS PRESENT: Jane Garrett, Ann Wilkerson, Sally Greene, Oscar <br />Fleming, and Chris Barnes <br /> <br />GUEST: None. <br /> <br />BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS ABSENT: None. <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Nancy Coston, Social Services Director; Lindsey Shewmaker, Human Services Manager; <br />and Crystal Mitchell, Human Services Manager. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order and Introductions <br /> <br />DSS Vice-Chair, Oscar Fleming, called the meeting to order at 4:07 pm. <br /> <br />II. Board Comments <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />III. Public Comments <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />IV. Agenda Changes <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />V. Action Items <br /> <br />On a motion by Chris Barnes, the Board approved the minutes of June 17, 2024. Jane Garrett <br />seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent. <br /> <br />VI. Items for Discussion and/or Decision <br /> <br />1. Executive Session <br /> <br />Chris Barnes moved the Board enter Executive Session pursuant to § 143 318.11(a)(1) referencing <br />§ 7B 2901. Jane Garrett seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent. <br /> <br />Ann Wilkerson moved the Board enter Executive Session pursuant to § 143 318.11(a)(6). Chris <br />Barnes seconded the motion. The motion was carries without dissent. <br /> <br />After returning to regular session the Social Services Board accepted the retirement and resignation <br />of Director, Nancy Coston, effective October 31, 2024. <br /> <br />2. Director’s Report <br /> <br />There are currently 21 vacancies. <br />
