MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES <br />April 15, 2024 <br />2 <br /> <br />Crystal Mitchell presented on the recruitment plan to increase the number of foster parents <br />available to Orange County DSS for children in custody. <br /> <br />Foster Art Exhibition will be April 26th in Carrboro. <br /> <br />Foster Parent Appreciation will be held on May 10th in the evening. The location will be determined. <br /> <br />4. Director’s Report <br /> <br />The two WIOA grants have been renewed for another year. <br /> <br />There is a Job Fair scheduled for Wednesday, April 17th at Orange Works. There are currently 39 <br />employers scheduled to attend the event. <br /> <br />May 10th from 10a-2p is the Be Well Event in the parking lot at Social Services. <br /> <br />Sally Green read the prevent child abuse month proclamation. <br /> <br />April 27th is the community meeting on the use of Opiod Settlement Funds. <br /> <br />There are two staff retirements to note. Amy Mitchell retired after 23 years of service to Orange <br />County and Cathy Hill will retire in May after 25 years of service. <br /> <br /> <br />VII. Announcements <br /> <br />Chris Barnes moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:12 pm. Ann Wilkerson seconded the motion.
