MINUTES ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES June 21, 2022 1 THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MET ON TUESDAY: June 21, 2022 virtually BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS PRESENT: Pat Garavaglia, Jamezetta Bedford, Jane Garrett, Oscar Fleming and Ann Wilkerson GUEST: None BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS ABSENT: None. STAFF PRESENT: Nancy Coston, Director; Lindsey Shewmaker, Human Services Manager; Sharron Hinton, Human Services Manager; and Crystal Mitchell, Human Services Manager. I. Call to Order and Introductions DSS Chair, Pat Garavaglia, called the meeting to order at 4:02 pm. II. Board Comments Pat Garavaglia noted that she joined the Foster Care Appreciation event and she left the event smiling and thought it was wonderful. She thanked staff for having such a cool event and appreciated the staff. III. Public Comments None. IV. Agenda Changes None. V. Action Items On a motion by Jane Garrett, the Board approved the minutes of May 16, 2022. Ann Wilkerson seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent. VI. Items for Discussion and/or Decision 1. Budget/Contract Updates Nancy Coston updated the Board that there were no real changes to the DSS budget. Staff went through the ratings and funding recommendations for Outside Agencies. 2. MOU Nancy Coston reminded the Board that there is an annual MOU that gets signed with the State that addresses performance measures that need to be met by counties. 3. Medicaid Updates Lindsey Shewmaker informed the Board that the Public Health Emergency designation is likely to be extended through October and will start impacting families in January of 2023.
