MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES <br />January 18, 2022 <br />2 <br /> <br />tonight. There was also a basic three-hour training held today for department heads that will be <br />available to all boards at some point. <br /> <br />3. Community Child Protection Team Annual Report <br /> <br />Brittany Mann presented the 2021 Annual Report from the Community Child Protection Team. The <br />team met four times during the year to discuss issues related to child safety. For next year the team <br />would like to expand on the safe sleep work that has been started, among other recommendations. <br /> <br />Oscar Fleming moved the Board approve the report and submit recommendations to the Board of <br />County Commissioners. Pat Garavaglia seconded the motion. The motion was carried without <br />dissent. <br /> <br />4. Budget Plan for FY22-23 <br /> <br />Nancy Coston explained the budget process and due dates. The Board will receive the budget <br />recommendations at the February meeting. There is no reason currently to believe there will be <br />funding shortfalls in any program areas. Staffing and vacancies are one of the biggest issues <br />currently and may be addressed during the budget process. <br /> <br />5. Director’s Report <br /> <br />There is a possible realignment of the Work Force Board. There is a meeting Thursday that will <br />provide more information. <br /> <br />6. Friends of DSS Updates <br /> <br />Friends of DSS spent around $7,000 on the Toy Chest this year. Pat Garagavlia added that there <br />would be support for a grandparents program from donors. There is a realtor offering to sponsor 3-4 <br />drives per year on behalf of DSS. Staff should send feedback to Pat on what items could be <br />needed. <br /> <br />VII. Announcements <br /> <br />Jane Garrett moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:00 pm. Jamezetta Bedford seconded the motion.
