Attachment 4 <br /> 1 <br /> 1 DRAFT MINUTES <br /> 2 ORANGE COUNTY <br /> 3 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 4 BUSINESS MEETING <br /> 5 June 18, 2024 <br /> 6 7:00 p.m. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a Business Meeting on Tuesday, June 18, <br /> 9 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center in Chapel Hill, NC. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Jamezetta Bedford, Vice-Chair Sally Greene <br /> 12 (arrived at 7:06 p.m.) and Commissioners Amy Fowler, Jean Hamilton, Earl McKee (arrived at <br /> 13 7:05 p.m.), Phyllis Portie-Ascott, and Anna Richards <br /> 14 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None. <br /> 15 COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> 16 COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br /> 17 Travis Myren, and Clerk to the Board Laura Jensen. (All other staff members will be identified <br /> 18 appropriately below) <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Chair Bedford called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All commissioners were present <br /> 21 except Commissioner McKee and Vice-Chair Greene. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> 24 Chair Bedford dispensed with reading the public charge. <br /> 25 Chair Bedford invited Todd McGee, Community Relations Director, to introduce members <br /> 26 of the County Government Academy who completed their final class earlier in the evening. They <br /> 27 were invited to take a photograph with the Board of Commissioners. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 2. Public Comments (Limited to One Hour) <br /> 30 a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> 31 There was no one signed up to speak. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 b. Matters on the Printed Agenda <br /> 34 (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda below.) <br /> 35 <br /> 36 3. Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> 37 Commissioner Portie-Ascott said she attended a Partnership to End Homelessness <br /> 38 meeting. She said that in July they were going to vote on new members and member roles and <br /> 39 duties. She said she attended the Phoenix Academy graduation ceremony the previous Friday. <br /> 40 She said she attended the Cedar Grove 8t" anniversary celebration. She said the transformation <br /> 41 of the building and property was inspiring. She said she attended the Roots to Resilience <br /> 42 Juneteenth event. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 Commissioner McKee arrived at 7:05 p.m. <br /> 45 <br /> 46 Vice-Chair Greene arrived at 7:06 p.m. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 Commissioner Fowler said she had been on vacation the previous week in Switzerland <br /> 49 and said during her trip she learned about the unique features of their system of government. <br /> 50 She wished Bonnie Hammersley the best in her upcoming retirement and welcomed Travis Myren <br />
