(All other staff members will be identified <br /> 18 appropriately below) <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Chair Bedford called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All commissioners were present, <br /> 21 except Commissioner Fowler and Commissioner Richards. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 A motion was made by Chair Bedford, seconded by Vice-Chair Greene to add a closed <br /> 24 session to the end of the meeting for the purposes of: <br /> 25 • To discuss the County's position and to instruct the County Manager and County <br /> 26 Attorney on the negotiating position regarding the terms of a contract to purchase real <br /> 27 property," NCGS § 143-318.11(a)(5). <br /> 28 • Approval of Closed Session Minutes <br /> 29 <br /> 30 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 31 <br /> 32 1. Discussion of FY 2024-25 Operating Budget <br /> 33 Funding Decisions on the Operating Budget Amendment List <br /> 34 <br /> 35 BACKGROUND: The County Manager presented the FY 2024-25 Recommended Budget on May <br /> 36 7, 2024. Subsequently, the Board has conducted two public hearings to receive residents' <br /> 37 comments regarding the proposed funding plan. In addition to the public hearings, the Board <br /> 38 heard presentations and held discussions with representatives of the County fire districts, the <br /> 39 local boards of education, representatives of the community college, and County Functional <br /> 40 Leadership Teams as related to the proposed funding plan for FY 2024-25. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 Tonight's Agenda: Tonight's work session offers the Board an opportunity to discuss the <br /> 43 recommended budget, including discussion and review of the Budget Amendment list. As soon <br /> 44 as these discussions are completed, the Board will deliberate and make decisions regarding the <br /> 45 FY 2024-25 Annual Operating Budget and approve a Resolution of Intent to Adopt the FY 2024- <br /> 46 25 Annual Operating Budget.
