80
5.SIMILAR PROJECTS
Behavioral Health Emergency Department
Expansion/Renovation
Wayne UNC Health Care
5a. Project Name: Behavioral Health Emergency
Department Expansion/Renovation
Date of the Project: 2025 (est.)
5b. The Location of the Client: Goldsboro NC
5c. A Contact Name Including Relevant Contact
Information: Tim Parnell, Tel: 3 919-587-4363 =
CPL was retained by Wayne UNC Health to design an
expansion to their existing Emergency Department in
order to solve a growing census of behavioral health
patients and ED throughput. The project consists of I
a 16-bed behavioral holding unit that was designed ■
in zones/pods to flex between adolescent and adult
patients. The rooms also flex to accommodate
lower acuity patients, making the new 8,800 sq. ft.
addition truly adaptable to patient and community
needs. The project will free up higher acuity rooms
in their existing Emergency Department allowing for
better room turnover and wait times. Additionally, it
removes the risk of patient elopement from unit
to unit.
Tip
I
 I
CPL 27
