1 <br /> APPROVED 915124 <br /> MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> BUDGET WORK SESSION <br /> May 16, 2024 <br /> 7:00 p.m. <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a Budget Work Session on Thursday, May <br /> 16, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center in Chapel Hill, NC. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Jamezetta Bedford, Vice-Chair Sally Greene, <br /> and Commissioners Amy Fowler, Jean Hamilton, Earl McKee, Phyllis Portie-Ascott, and Anna <br /> Richards <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: None <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br /> Travis Myren, and Clerk to the Board Laura Jensen. (All other staff members will be identified <br /> appropriately below) <br /> Chair Bedford called the Board of County Commissioners meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> All commissioners were present. <br /> The Board reviewed and discussed: <br /> • Outside Agency Funding; <br /> • the Durham Technical Community College — Orange County Campus FY 2024-25 <br /> Operating Budget; <br /> • the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools FY 2024-25 Operating and Capital Investment Plan <br /> Budget; and <br /> • the Orange County Schools FY 2024-25 Operating and Capital Investment Plan Budget. <br /> BACKGROUND: The County Manager presented the FY 2024-25 Recommended Budget <br /> (https://www.oranpecountync.gov/budget) at the Board's May 7, 2024 Business meeting. Since <br /> that time, the Board has conducted one public hearing to receive residents' comments regarding <br /> the proposed funding plan. This is the first opportunity for the Board to discuss next year's <br /> recommended funding plan related to Outside Agency and Education funding. <br /> 1.
