(All other staff members will be identified <br /> 18 appropriately below) <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Chair Bedford called the Board of County Commissioners meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> 21 All commissioners were present, except Commissioner Richards. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 The Board reviewed and discussed: <br /> 24 • FY 2024-25 Fire Districts' Tax Rates <br /> 25 • Discussion of County Departments' FY 2024-25 Recommended Budgets <br /> 26 o Public Safety <br /> 27 ■ Sheriff <br /> 28 o Human Services <br /> 29 ■ Equity and Inclusion <br /> 30 ■ Library Services <br /> 31 <br /> 32 BACKGROUND: The County Manager presented the FY 2024-25 Recommended Operating <br /> 33 Budget on May 7, 2024. Since then, the Board has conducted one public hearing to receive <br /> 34 residents' comments regarding the proposed funding plan. At the May 16, 2024 Budget Work <br /> 35 Session, the Board discussed recommended FY 2024-25 budgets for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City <br /> 36 Schools Board of Education, Orange County Schools Board of Education and Durham Tech <br /> 37 Community College. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 This budget work session offers the Board an opportunity to review and discuss the recommended <br /> 40 budgets directly with Fire District Chiefs and County Departments. As the Board asked for <br /> 41 additional time to discuss the upcoming school referendum bond projects, County departments <br /> 42 have primarily been moved to the May 28, 2024 Budget Work Session. Library Services, the <br /> 43 Office of Equity and Inclusion and the Sheriff's Office were each unable to move to May 28t", and <br /> 44 so will need to be discussed at this May 23rd Budget Work Session. <br /> 45 <br /> 46 1. Discussion Regarding FY 2024-25 Fire Districts' Tax Rates <br /> 47 Fire Chiefs Charles Bowden (New Hope), Jeff Cabe (Orange Rural), and Keith Hayes <br /> 48 (Eno) were present. <br /> 49 Deputy County Manager, Travis Myren, made the following presentation: <br /> 50 <br /> 51 <br />
