Orange County as previously authorized by the Board of Commissioners <br /> in closed session. <br /> North Carolina General Statute 143-318.11(a)(3) provides that when the settlement of <br /> litigation is authorized or considered in closed session the terms of the settlement will <br /> be entered into the minutes of the public body as soon after the settlement is concluded <br /> as is reasonable. <br /> Laverne Thompson v. Orange County settlement concluded August 2024. This is the <br /> case of a former health department employee. The terms of the settlement with Ms. <br /> Thompson include a full and final payment to Ms. Thompson by the County in the <br /> amount of $62,325.16 in return for a full and final release of all future claims by Ms. <br /> Thompson against the County. <br />
