2 - New Hope Elementary <br /> New Hope Elementary School serves grades Pre-Kindergarten to 5 and has a total enrollment <br /> of 559 students. It is located in south Hillsborough along New Hope Church Road just off of NC <br /> 86.Traffic volumes along New Hope Church Road range from 1,800 vehicles per day east of NC <br /> 86 to 5,100 vehicles per day west of NC 86.Traffic volumes along NC 86 range from 5,600 <br /> vehicles per day south of New Hope Church Road to 8,500 vehicles per day north of New Hope <br /> Church Road.The school is currently overcapacity based on projected land use in the area and <br /> future residential development projections.There are no pedestrian or bicycle facilities on the <br /> roadways in the vicinity of the school. On-site observations noted no <br /> elementary school pedestrians or cyclists walking in the vicinity of the school. Field staff noted <br /> the following travel norms for New Hope: <br /> • Motorist behavior was observed as poor. Many drivers try to cut in line and make illegal <br /> U-turns in the road.Through traffic passes in the center turn lane at full speed. <br /> • There are three driveways into the school. Car rider drop off and pick up occurs at the <br /> westernmost driveway.
