Orange County West Campus Office Building -HVAC <br />PDC Project 23020 Refrigerant Piping 23 23 00 - 4 <br />2.Connections:Soldered. <br />2.08 FLEXIBLE CONNECTORS <br />A.Manufacturers: <br />1.Circuit Hydraulics,Ltd​​ <br />2.Flexicraft Industries​​ <br />3.Penflex​​ <br />4.Or Approved Equal <br />B.Corrugated stainless steel hose with single layer of stainless steel exterior braiding,minimum 9 <br />inches long with copper tube ends;for maximum working pressure of 640 psi. <br />2.09 EXPANSION LOOPS <br />A.Flexible hose expansion loops shall be manufactured complete with two parallel sections of <br />corrugated metal house,compatible braid,180⁰return bend,with inlet and outlet connections. <br />Field fabricated loops shall not be acceptable. <br />B.Flexible hose expansion loops shall impart no thrust loads to system support,anchors or building <br />structure. <br />C.Flexible hose expansion loops to be "VRF Metraloop”as manufactured by The Metraflex Company <br />D.Corrugated Hose shall be Type 321 stainless Steel <br />E.Braid shall be double layer of type 304 Stainless Steel <br />F.Fittings shall be Sch 40 S Type 304 Stainless in accordance with ASTM A240 <br />G.Copper pipe systems,the VRF Metraloop shall be equipped with a stainless-steel to copper <br />conversion fitting with XHP copper stub ends. <br />H.Flexible hose expansion loops shall have a factory supplied;hanger /support lug located at the <br />bottom of the 180⁰return. <br />I.Rated for 700 PSI @ 300°F <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.01 PREPARATION <br />A.Ream pipe and tube ends. Remove burrs. Bevel plain end ferrous pipe. <br />B.Remove scale and dirt on inside and outside before assembly. <br />C.Prepare piping connections to equipment with flanges or unions. <br />3.02 INSTALLATION <br />A.Install refrigeration specialties in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. <br />B.Space refrigerant piping far enough apart to allow for field installed insulation of thickness <br />specified. <br />C.The installation of piping and related items shall be made neatly and in such a manner as not to <br />interfere with access to valves or equipment. Expansion,drainage and maintenance of installed <br />piping shall be possible. <br />D.Route piping in orderly manner,with plumbing parallel to building structure,and maintain gradient. <br />E.Install piping to conserve building space and avoid interference with use of space. <br />F.Install piping to allow for expansion and contraction without stressing pipe,joints,or connected <br />equipment. <br />G.Sleeves shall be provided wherever pipes pass through walls,floors and ceilings. Sleeves shall be <br />Schedule 40,black steel,one-half inch in diameter larger than the pipe or insulation on the pipe. <br /> Sleeves through walls and ceilings shall be flush.Sleeves through floors shall extend one inch <br />above finished floor.
