Orange County West Campus Office Building -HVAC <br />PDC Project 23020 Vibration and Seismic Controls for HVAC 23 05 48 - 1 <br />SECTION 23 05 48 <br />VIBRATION AND SEISMIC CONTROLS FOR HVAC <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br />1.01 SECTION INCLUDES <br />A.Vibration isolation requirements. <br />B.Vibration isolators. <br />1.02 REFERENCE STANDARDS <br />A.ASHRAE (HVACA)-ASHRAE Handbook -HVAC Applications;Most Recent Edition Cited by <br />Referring Code or Reference Standard. <br />1.03 ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS <br />A.Coordination: <br />1.Coordinate selection and arrangement of vibration isolation and/or seismic control <br />components with the actual equipment to be installed. <br />2.Coordinate the work with other trades to provide additional framing and materials required for <br />installation. <br />3.Coordinate compatibility of support and attachment components with mounting surfaces at <br />the installed locations. <br />1.04 SUBMITTALS <br />A.Product Data: Provide manufacturer's standard catalog pages and data sheets for products, <br />including materials,fabrication details,dimensions,and finishes. <br />1.Vibration Isolators: Include rated load capacities and deflections;include information on color <br />coding or other identification methods for spring element load capacities. <br />B.Shop Drawings -Vibration Isolation Systems: <br />1.Include dimensioned plan views and sections indicating proposed arrangement of vibration <br />isolators;indicate equipment weights and static deflections. <br />1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A.Comply with applicable building code. <br />B.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing the products specified in this <br />section with minimum three years documented experience. <br />1.06 DELIVERY,STORAGE,AND HANDLING <br />A.Receive,inspect,handle,and store products in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.01 VIBRATION ISOLATION REQUIREMENTS <br />A.Design and provide vibration isolation systems to reduce vibration transmission to supporting <br />structure from vibration-producing HVAC equipment and/or HVAC connections to vibration-isolated <br />equipment. <br />B.Comply with applicable general recommendations of ASHRAE (HVACA),where not in conflict with <br />other specified requirements: <br />C.General Requirements: <br />1.Select vibration isolators to provide required static deflection. <br />2.Select vibration isolators for uniform deflection based on distributed operating weight of actual <br />installed equipment. <br />3.Select vibration isolators for outdoor equipment to comply with wind design requirements. <br />D.Equipment Isolation: Isolate all motor driven mechanical equipment,unless otherwise noted,from <br />building structure,and from systems which they serve,to prevent equipment vibrations from being <br />transmitted to structure.
