ORANGE ORANGE COUNTY GOVERNMENT <br /> ORANGE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT <br /> N0Wr CAROLINA OrangeCounty <br /> i <br /> URLIC TRANSIT <br /> Item 5.c. <br /> Subject: 2055 Metropolitan Transportation Plan Update <br /> PURPOSE: Provided comments on the 2055 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) Update. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC <br /> MPO) is responsible for long range transportation planning for Durham County and parts of <br /> Orange and Chatham Counties and is updating its MTP. The 2055 MTP is a federally required, <br /> financially constrained plan that recommends major transportation projects, policies and <br /> strategies designed to maintain existing transportation systems and address the region's future <br /> travel needs. Projects must be in the 2055 MTP to receive any state and federal transportation <br /> funding through the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). <br /> 2055 MTP Plan Process to date: <br /> • August 9, 2023 — DCHC MPO Board adopted Triangle Regional Model <br /> • December 2023— Public Engagement—Goals and Objectives <br /> o Engagement Strategy (link) approved November 2023 <br /> • February 27, 2024— DCHC MPO Board approved Goals <br /> June 2024, the DCHC MPO Board approved the Objectives in relationship to the approved Goals <br /> for the 2055 MTP. Staff is providing this presentation as an opportunity for Board comments.
