Request for Proposals for the Lunch Program due April 16
a. The lunch contract is out for bid. It is a $200K+ contract. It is uncertain if the current caterer will
submit a bid for the coming year. If you know of vendors who would like to in a bid to cater for
our lunch program, the deadline is next Tuesday at 2pm deadline. It is a big commitment. There
is also an option for caterers to cook onsite or in their own kitchen.
10. May is Older Americans Month —the Theme is "Powered by Connection"
a. Janice will send a Proclamation to the BOCC to be read on May 7. Colin offered to come to the
presentation. The County Manager is presenting the budget that night, so the proclamation
might not be read and there might not be an opportunity to speak.
11. Board Appointments
a. Board applicant, Ms. Rashdi, is visiting with us today, and she is interested in moving forward
with the application and appointment process. She will bring her own experiences and insight
to the board. She stated that she will do anything that she can be of help.
b. The board discussed applicant, Jon Wilner. Jon is the former director of The ArtsCenter. Aging
board members felt that he was an excellent person, organized, and impressed with the Aging
Board/MAP reports. Might bring an arts/music perspective. There was consensus on approving
Jon for the board.
c. Two board members, Colin and James, have served their term limit cannot serve again for one
year.
d. We are asking for Jeff, Dick, Sandy and Jerry to be reappointment. One
recent applicant is a younger person who is a Geriatric Psychiatrist looking for more local
service.
12. FY 24-25 Budget
a. Update Budget Requests
i. The process is moving along. Janice had a meeting with the manager to review Aging's
requests. Janice said that it is hard to know how things will shake out. It has been
proposed to move our temporary part-time staff to permanent part-time without
benefits. The change is "net zero" for the budget, so there is no additional cost to the
county.
ii. Asking additional 16K for publishing the Endless Possibilities news and activity guide as
the cost of paper and ink has gone up.
