i. This Thursday& Friday, the Central Pines Area Agency on Aging (CPAAA) will conduct <br /> their annual visit to monitor the following areas: Information and options Counseling, <br /> Congregate Nutrition, Senior Center Operations, National Family Caregiver Support <br /> program, Evidence Based Health Promotion program and ARPA funding. <br /> ii. Janice expressed concern that our caterer has not provided the proper paperwork for <br /> when there are meal substitutions. When substitutions are done a form must be <br /> completed and signed by a registered dietitian. <br /> iii. The caterer needs a back-up in the event of an absence. The caterer did not have a <br /> backup in place during a recent absence a couple of weeks ago. Janice, Janice's son, our <br /> Lunch Program Manager, Isabel Jackson, and Senior Centers Administrator, Cyd Sims, <br /> had to jump in on the fly and cook 140 meals. <br /> b. Janice reported that our divisions do outstanding work, and we have a great relationship with <br /> the AAA. <br /> 6. Staff updates <br /> a. Isabel Jackson's retirement—April 30. The position has been posted. <br /> i. Janices stated that Isabel will be missed. She has been with County for 22.5 years; 13.5 <br /> of those years have been with OCDOA. She was a librarian for the County before coming <br /> to Aging. We have had a fabulous relationship with Isabel. <br /> ii. We hoped to have overlap in her position so that Isabel could train the new person; that <br /> didn't work out. The job posting is closing today, and Isabel might be able to be included <br /> in the interview process. If needed, she is willing to come back after 30 days to help with <br /> training. <br /> b. New Durable Medical Equipment program assistant—Jazzmin Abernathy, OT Assistant <br /> i. Our current DME program assistant, Matthew Cobb, is going on to his clinicals and <br /> graduate. We are happy we were able to fill this position and to have Jazzmin joining us. <br /> Vibeke Talley founded this program which has grown over the years. Marie Dagger, <br /> OCDOA OT, is presenting at the NC Falls Prevention Summit in April. She will speak <br /> about our DME program. <br /> 7. Opioid Community Meeting—April 27, Whitted Building 10 a.m. —3 p.m. <br /> a. The Orange County Opioid Advisory Committee was appointed by the BOCC to disperse the <br /> Opioid Settlement monies. Orange County is expected to receive $6,799,780 through 2040 in <br /> annual installments to be used for our community. The County is holding the community wide <br /> meeting to receive public input on how they think the money should be used. <br /> b. Visit Orange County's Opioid Settlement Funds website to learn more about monies received, <br /> recommendations for funding, meeting schedule, and to sign up to attend meetings and give <br /> "Public Comment." <br /> 8. Lots of Spring Events coming up. Check Endless Possibilities! <br /> a. Senior Games and SilverArts Kick Off on Thursday, April 11 at 4:30 p.m. Janice said that the <br /> SilverArts entries this year are phenomenal. Games will be going on for three weeks. There are <br /> lots of opportunities to get involved if anyone would like to volunteer. <br /> b. Grow with Google: Protect Yourself from Online Scams —April 13 from 9—11 a.m. at the <br /> Seymour Center. This program is sponsored by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Area Alumnae Chapter <br /> of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the Friends of Seymour Center. <br /> c. Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Presentation —April 15; 4 p.m. at the Passmore Center. This is a <br /> repeat of presentation that was at Seymour now at Passmore. Two presenters who have built <br /> ADU's in Orange County will be presenting. One presenter built an ADU in Hillsborough's <br /> historic district; and the other is Alison Smith, OCDOA staff member, whose parents moved <br /> from Florida and built a ADU in Alison's backyard. <br /> d.
