1 <br /> Orange County Department on Aging <br /> Advisory Board on Aging <br /> Tuesday, April 9; 1—3 pm <br /> Passmore Center Hybrid <br /> MINUTES <br /> In Attendance: Colin Austin, Rachel Bearman, Ann Bradford, Jeff Charles, Jerry Gregory, James Harris, Jackie <br /> Podger; Vibeke Talley, Sandy Walker, Dick White; Staff: Beverly Shuford, Janice Tyler; Guests: Sheila Evans and <br /> Shahnaz GiGi Rashdi. <br /> Absent With Notice: N/A <br /> Absent Without Notice: N/A <br /> 1. Welcome <br /> a. Colin opened the meeting and welcomed everyone, including visitor and Aging Board applicant, <br /> Shahnaz Rashdi. <br /> 2. Introductions and Announcements <br /> a. Ms. Rashdi introduced herself sharing that she is a resident of Hillsborough and raises sheep. <br /> She was a caregiver to her mother before she passed and understands caregiver concerns. Ms. <br /> Rashdi now wants to be involved in all activities to give back to the community. She heard <br /> about OCDOA through DSS and applied to the board to become more involved and contribute <br /> where she is able. <br /> b. Jackie is going to a sheep herding experience at Union Grove Farm (UGF) and encouraged <br /> everyone to check out what UGF has to offer. <br /> c. Colin's law office is moving to downtown Hillsborough, the white house across from the Orange <br /> County Public Library on Margaret Lane. He invited everyone to stop by and say hello. <br /> 3. Approval of Minutes— March 12, 2024 <br /> a. The March 12, 2024, minutes were approved with one typo correction. <br /> Director's Report <br /> 4. All Ages All Stages— Multi-sector Aging Plan for NC <br /> a. Janice reported that the Multi-sector Aging Plan work is moving along. The workgroup that she <br /> co-leads, "Strengthening Communities for a Lifetime," will have their final review tomorrow. <br /> After their review meeting, they will pass their section of the plan off to NCDAAS to go on to <br /> Governor Cooper. <br /> b. The All Ages All Stages — Multi-sector Aging Plan was instituted by Gov. Roy Cooper and kicked <br /> off on May 2 of 2023. With this plan we continue to march toward the goal of becoming an age <br /> friendly state. <br /> 5. Preparing for CPAAA Annual Monitoring visit—April 11-12 <br />
