Fikes, 245-2490 <br />PURPOSE: To award one contract far the County CDBG Scattered Site Housing Rehabilitation <br />Program. <br />BACKGROUND: The Housing and Community Development Department solicited bids from <br />qualified housing rehabilitation contractors participating in the County's Housing Rehabilitation <br />Program, The informal bidding process is governed by the North Carolina General Statues <br />§143-131 and does not require a minimum number of bids. Additionally, present program <br />procedures provide that housing rehabilitation contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible <br />bidder, and all contractors participating in the County's Rehabilitation Program are required to <br />utilize current deconstruction and material recycling methods during the repair process. <br />Sealed bids were solicited from participating contractors on October 5, 2005 with the bid <br />opening on October 13, 2005 with at least three bids received for the rehab job. Bid results are <br />attached. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Orange County 2004 CDBG Scattered Site Program provides grant <br />funding for this repair project. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board award the following <br />housing rehabilitation contract: <br />Dwelling Unit Bid Amount Contractor <br />124 Merritt Mill Road, Chapel Hill $41,950 William Long Construction Co. <br />
