Charlos Banks, Tina Sykes, Rachel Gessouroun, Joal Braun, Dana Crews <br /> Excused: Laurie Williamson, Carol McClelland, Phyllis Portie-Ascott <br /> Welcome <br /> The meeting opened with a welcome from Chair, Sharron Hinton, and introductions. <br /> JCPC Business <br /> Conflict of Interest Forms—if you haven't had an opportunity to complete the form yet, please do so and <br /> turn in to Rebekah. There are about eight members who still need to complete it for this fiscal year. <br /> Committee Chair Selection —Chairs for the various committees need to be selected.. <br /> Risk and Needs—Amanda Farris and.Jamie Jacobs volunteered to co-chair. <br /> Funding Sharron Hinton appointed Carol McClelland to chair since she is Vice Chair. <br /> Monitoring—Sharron Hinton and Laurie Williamson volunteered to co-chair. <br /> RED— Gayane Chambless volunteered to remain as chair. <br /> Publicity—Kysha Thompson and Sharron Hinton volunteered to co-chair. <br /> Conference/Training Oppor°timities—There is a Youth Resilience Summit in Raleigh on November 16 <br /> from 8:30 — 1:30. Breakfast and hunch are provided, and the registration fee is $35. Topics will include <br /> community resilience, suicide prevention, leveraging disability law, internet crimes and social media <br /> impacts. <br /> The other training opportunity is the two-day Racial Equity Institute Phase One training. Amanda has <br /> space to bring one person and would like to offer the spot to someone on the RED committee first. DJJ is <br /> not able to pay for hotel and food but can cover the cost of the training. However, JCPC admin fiends <br /> could assist with the hotel and food. <br /> Minutes Review and Approval <br /> The Council reviewed the minutes from August 2023 meeting. Amanda Farris motioned for minutes to be <br /> approved and was sceonded by Crista Collazo. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Program Updates <br /> Dispute Settlement Center---They received close to eight referrals in the last six weeks which is a lot <br /> because they normally serve 20 referrals in a year. They have done really great repairing harm processes <br /> with a quite a few youth. The youth have really created some meaningful letters of apology and are <br /> working hard to repair the harm caused. The challenge right now is that there are some families that are <br /> hard to connect with. <br />
