59 <br /> Orange County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Meeting <br /> Friday,February 2, 2024 (12:00noon—2:00pm) <br /> Hybrid <br /> Proposed Minutes <br /> Attendees: Amanda Farris, Phyllis Portie-Ascott, Charlos Banks, Dana Crews, Bernard Miles, <br /> Gayane Chambless, Kysha Thompson,Lateef Mitchell, Laurie Williamson, Sharron Hinton,Rachel <br /> Gessouroun, Tami Pfeifer, Erica Cooke, David Carter, Andre Richmond, Caraina Edwards,Valoree <br /> Hanson, Jamie Jacobs, Sarah Black, Pamela Weiden,Nicole Hunter, Paticia Cardoso, Kassi Dadufalza <br /> (*Members in bold) <br /> Absent: Paul Bell, Tina Sykes, Carol McClelland, Jon Berkeley <br /> Excused: Judge Joal Broun; Crista Collazo <br /> Welcome <br /> The meeting opened with a welcome from Chair, Sharron Hinton, and introductions. <br /> Minutes Review and Approval <br /> The Council reviewed the minutes from December 2023. Bernard Miles motioned for minutes to be <br /> approved and was seconded by Phyllis Portie-Ascott. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> JCPC Business <br /> Conflict of Interest Farms—If you haven't had an opportunity to complete the form yet,please do so and <br /> turn in to Caraina. <br /> Monitoring Committee—The monitoring committee began the monitoring of the programs. Sharron <br /> Hinton monitored Dispute Settlement Center and Wrenn House. Laurie Williamson monitored Teen <br /> Court, Community Service and Restitution and Reintegration Support Network. Laurie plans to meet <br /> with the program coordinator with the Exchange Club next week. So far, the monitoring for all programs <br /> has gone well. They were impressed with the work the programs were doing. <br /> RED Committee—The committee discussed building the committee to be more diverse. They are looking <br /> to recruit people to bring diverse voices to the table, in particular, Spanish speaking people. They asked <br /> for recommendations of anyone from the business community who may be interested in this work to bring <br /> to the nominating committee. They are also looking for students to join the council. They plan to meet <br /> again after they get the presentation from the state on number of students and equity issues. They want to <br /> look at what is going on and what could be changed for Black and Brown students who might be involved <br /> with the DJJ process and what their needs are based on the Risk&Needs Committee. <br /> Risk&Needs Committee—They met once to go over the data. Nothing more to report at this time. <br /> Program Updates <br /> Dispute Settlement Center—They are currently working with six youth. They only had one new <br /> admission in the last couple of weeks. It was more challenging than normal to get up with youth due to <br /> illnesses and the holidays. The imagine they will be finishing up working with four youth within the next <br /> two weeks. They had four referrals that were Spanish speaking. <br />
