PUBLIC PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES: Not Necessary <br /> GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENTS (not on agenda): None <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Holly Pittman went over the ASAB member term guidelines—members who start during a <br /> partial term are then eligible for two (2) full 3-year terms following the end of the partial term. <br /> The list of each member's term dates will be emailed to all members. <br /> MONTHLY MEETING ATTENDANCE RECORD: Confirmed through approval of meeting <br /> minutes. <br /> ANIMAL SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD: <br /> Current Vacancies: <br /> 1. Currently have 2 vacancies on ASAB —Town of Hillsborough and Non-Municipality <br /> positions are open. <br /> 2. Lucia Wellborne will be finishing her 2nd term June 30, 2024.Animal Welfare & <br /> Advocacy Position will be open then. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: None <br /> INFORMATION ITEMS: <br /> OCAS Developments Presented by Dr. Sandra Strong <br /> 1. Tiani Stamey was introduced to the ASAB and is the new Assistant Director for OCAS. <br /> She previously worked at OCAS in multiple positions and most recently directed the <br /> Chatham County Animal Services Department and is enthusiastic about returning to <br /> OCAS. <br /> 2. Dr. Strong reviewed the records and reports that COAS has not had to euthanize any <br /> patients due to lack of space to keep them since 2016. <br /> 3. Dr. Strong met with Tara May(Clerk to the BOCC)to discuss ASAB member absentee <br /> policy—her guidance is to be as accommodating as possible since these are voluntary <br /> positions but refer consistent absentees to her for decisions on dismissal <br /> recommendations. <br /> 4. The BOCC is working on strategic goals, this applies to OCAS as follows: <br /> a. One Health Initiative—including considering if OCAS can be involved with <br /> health Department events. <br /> b. Human-animal bond and its role in public health. <br /> c. Rabies prevention and management. <br /> d. Community cat population management. <br /> e. Pet overpopulation management—spay/neuter assistance. <br /> f. Pet rehoming as residents need. <br /> 5. OCAS goal is to be at or above 90% live placement rates and we tend to be at this level <br /> now. This rate was in the 50-75% range between 2009-2016. <br /> 2 of 3 <br />
