Approximately twenty of those years <br /> have been spent as an administrator with Orange County Schools. I have spent numerous <br /> hours and days in all thirteen schools. I know first hand some of the challenges that our physical <br /> buildings face and I am an advocate for improving all of our schools academically and <br /> structurally. Most importantly, all four of my own kids have attended Orange County Schools at <br /> one time or another. In fact, I have three kids who are still in elementary school here in the <br /> district. <br /> One of my strengths is my ability to listen and try to understand everyone s point of view. I have <br /> proven to do this in my day to day interactions with students, staff, and community members. I <br /> will bring a community and student focus to the board. <br /> Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board <br /> I love Orange County and the students of Orange County Schools. I want to see not only <br /> Orange County Schools flourish but also Chapel Hill- Carrboro School System. I believe that I <br /> bring an interesting lens as both an educator and a parent. <br /> How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints? <br /> While I work for OCS, I do not have personal biases. My goal is to do what is right for all kids <br /> and our community. In addition, I will work hard to bring voices to the table that are often and <br /> historically overlooked. <br />
