17 <br /> 1 Chair Bedford clarified that she thinks Commissioner Portie-Ascott is asking if it will be <br /> 2 done in one meeting or if they will have more meetings added for this. <br /> 3 Tara May said it would be decided at a business meeting on June 4. <br /> 4 Commissioner Richards asked if the process will be the same as appointments to other <br /> 5 advisory boards. <br /> 6 Tara May said it would be the same process as for other advisory boards. <br /> 7 Chair Bedford said Tara May would sort through them to determine who lives in which <br /> 8 school district. She said the school boards would choose the members that represent their <br /> 9 districts. She said that on June 4, the Board of Commissioners would choose four seats. <br /> 10 Commissioner Richards said the charge is specific and it's a short time frame. She asked <br /> 11 how they would review the applications. <br /> 12 Chair Bedford said it would include everything. <br /> 13 Commissioner Richards asked what is meant by staff support. She asked who would do <br /> 14 the advertising. <br /> 15 Chair Bedford said there is a $50,000 budget amendment on the consent agenda to hire <br /> 16 a consultant to do a lot of those tasks. She said that the Public Information Officers for the two <br /> 17 school districts would also be involved. She said the consultant would present to the committee. <br /> 18 Tara May said that the deadline would actually be May 29. <br /> 19 Commissioner Hamilton said Commissioner Richards' questions seemed like she was <br /> 20 concerned that the bond education being professionally done. She asked if they should be looking <br /> 21 at doing interviews. She asked if that is needed. <br /> 22 Commissioner Richards said her questions really stemmed from thinking that the <br /> 23 committee and staff needed professional support. She said she didn't realize that the consultant <br /> 24 and the PIOs would be working together. She said if it was like an ordinary advisory board and <br /> 25 they had such a short amount of time, without support, it would have been a tough job for staff to <br /> 26 do all of the work in a short time frame. <br /> 27 Commissioner Fowler asked if the process in previous years was adequate and if the <br /> 28 public felt well-informed. <br /> 29 Travis Myren, Deputy County Manager, said if he recalls correctly, the media campaign <br /> 30 was well received. He said that this time, he's sure the video campaign will be higher quality. He <br /> 31 said the lions' share of the work will be done by staff and the consultant. <br /> 32 Commissioner McKee said he didn't remember any criticism or issues from previous bond <br /> 33 referendums. <br /> 34 Commissioner Portie-Ascott said there was not an issue getting people to apply for the <br /> 35 committee. <br /> 36 Chair Bedford said no. She said they are using the general application and that way the <br /> 37 applicants can tell them what they think is important. <br /> 38 Commissioner Hamilton said she is interested in serving on the committee. <br /> 39 Chair Bedford said they will vote on members on June 4th.
