I have served on the PTA at my <br /> children's school and am familiar with the challenges of a growing and diverse population at the <br /> school and county level. Additionally I work at the Veterans hospital and am familiar with the <br /> budgeting constraints that face large public entities these days <br /> Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board <br /> My children receive an outstanding education. Orange County schools has extremely talented <br /> and dedicated teachers and staff. It is a changing population and I have seen how politicized <br /> public education can become. I do think we can address the needs of our students and <br /> community members in a clear and rational way without the goals being lost behind politics. <br /> How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints? <br /> I have served on the board of River park PTA and when the board proposed to rid Spanish <br /> education in the schools united with the Hispanic community to have their concerns heard by the <br /> board and ultimately maintained Spanish in the schools as well as increasing the number of <br /> liaisons in each school. Though I am not a member of a minority population I endeavor to listen <br /> and understand viewpoints of all OC citizens and ensure they have the opportunity to have their <br /> voices heard and needs addressed <br />
